Chapter 17 - Seraphina’s counterattack
Seraphina filed a civil claim against me.
Defamation.
Interference with Holt business.
Wrongful exclusion from residence.
Conversion of personal property.
Some claims weak.
Some not ridiculous.
I had publicly? I had not spoken publicly. Good. Maybe defamation based on internal call calling her "child abuser" before conviction. I had used that phrase in corporate emails? Could be.
During my angry contract-freeze call, I had said:
“Seraphina abused my daughter.”
At that point, allegation not adjudicated.
Truth might become defense.
Still.
Her lawyers also argued I used my feared reputation to contaminate her ability to work.
Media already called me Mafia boss.
Reporters waited outside Holt offices.
I issued one public statement through counsel:
A child-safety matter involving my daughter is under investigation. I will not litigate it in the press. Commercial matters between Rourke and Holt entities are being handled by independent governance processes from which I am recused where appropriate.
Boring.

Seraphina gave a television interview.
She said:
“I tried to impose structure on a grieving child in a household where every employee is terrified to contradict Maximilian.”
That hurt because one piece was true.
Employees were sometimes afraid to contradict me.
Not because I ordered violence.
Because reputation plus ownership creates pressure.
Then:
“I made mistakes. I did not abuse Anouk.”
That would be for court.
She also said:
“Maximilian’s outrage is convenient because it shifts attention from what his companies have concealed.”

Stock? Private company. Lenders called.
