The three Marconi capos Warren had quietly approached faced me together.
Bramwell had told me immediately after.
The other two admitted listening.
Only one had actively encouraged the idea of Preston gaining informal influence.
I removed him from strategic council for a year.
Not forever.
He had not betrayed routes.
Not attacked me.
He had revealed a prejudice with operational consequences.
Specific consequence.
Then I changed one thing permanently.
No spouse of a Marconi leader received automatic presence at command dinners.
Male.
Female.
Any spouse.
Invitation came from role, not ring.
Some older men complained this insulted marriage.
I disagreed.
Marriage is stronger when it does not need a chair to prove itself.
That became our rule.
