Chapter 13

Serena’s formal statement took two more weeks.
Her first version minimized Adrian’s role.
Investigators challenged the timeline.
The digital logs contradicted parts of it.
The calendar invitation contradicted others.
Eventually she admitted Adrian suggested documenting Lily as an “alienating caregiver.”
She admitted he helped schedule camera-off periods.
She admitted the engagement-night rehearsal was intended to produce a short video of Ethan calling her “Mommy” and saying Lily was mean.
She continued claiming Ethan’s fracture was accidental.
Medical experts could not prove otherwise.
What mattered was that the injury happened during conduct neither sibling had any right to impose.
Lily provided her own timeline.
The household manager confirmed Serena repeatedly sent her out during privacy-mode sessions.
Dr. Porter provided her professional notes.
The hospital records documented the fracture.
Victor provided the original FAMILY PRIVACY authorization bearing his signature.
His attorney asked once more:
“Do you want that included?”
“Yes.”
“It makes you look careless.”
“I was careless.”
That answer ended the discussion.
Victor also turned over footage showing his punch against Adrian and slap against Serena.
He would not demand accountability while editing himself out of the story.
The household board overseeing Blackwood charitable and business properties removed Adrian from all remaining security work pending contractual review.
Separate legal processes concerning Ethan, Serena, Adrian, and Victor continued at normal speed.
No dramatic arrests.
No instant verdict.
But one thing became irreversible.
Serena’s own statement established that Lily had been deliberately framed.
Victor called Lily into his office.
“You're cleared.”
She looked at him.
“I knew that.”
Victor almost smiled.
Of course she did.
He corrected himself.
“Other people know it now.”
That mattered more.
Then he handed her a copy of Serena’s statement.
Lily did not take it.
“I don't need to read what she wanted him to say.”
Victor lowered the paper.
“What do you need?”
May you like
Lily looked toward the nursery.
“For Ethan to stop thinking love is something adults make him prove.”
