Tessara considered resigning.
Not because of Corisande.
Because everyone suddenly knew her name.
People thanked her for “saving the boss.”
She hated it.

She looked relieved.

“You answered a question.”

“And helped my mother.”
“Yes.”
“That’s enough.”
She stayed.
Same job.
Same pay initially.
Later, her supervisor promoted her because she was excellent with elder guests.

“Tessara says I need new hearing aids.”

I sighed.
