Violetta returned after a year.

To Silas.
She asked permission first.
He made her wait three weeks.
Petty old man.

They met in my father’s study.

Later Silas told me she asked one question.
“Did my father know Alistair discovered the truth?”
Silas answered yes.
Cassian received one letter from my father.
Not apology.
Not restoration.
Only:

Cassian sent it back unopened.
Violetta laughed when she heard that.
Apparently exactly like him.
Then she cried.
“Was he angry until he died?”
Silas answered:
“Yes.”
No softening.
“And did he love you?”
“Yes.”
