Chapter 6

The explicit rejection hung heavily in the bright, cinematic air of the theater. The rejection was an absolute, undeniable insult to Harrison's syndicate, a formal declaration that the political alliance was dead on arrival.
Harrison’s fair, rosy face flushed a deep, angry purple. Blinded by decades of toxic entitlement and a desperate need to save face in front of the assembled New York capos, Harrison made a fatal, suicidal miscalculation. He genuinely believed that the sixty-three-year-old man standing before him, holding a child, was vulnerable to a sudden physical assault.
"You arrogant old bastard!" Harrison roared, entirely abandoning his aristocratic composure.
Harrison lunged forward. He aggressively grabbed Roland’s broad shoulder with his left hand, intending to pull the Mafia boss off balance. Simultaneously, Harrison drew his right fist back and swung a heavy, wild punch directly aimed at Roland’s jaw.
The guests gasped, shrinking back against the walls.
Roland did not panic. He did not drop his granddaughter. Operating with the ingrained, explosive reflexes of a man who had survived a dozen brutal cartel wars, Roland shifted his weight with terrifying, fluid speed.
He smoothly slipped his head to the outside, allowing Harrison’s heavy fist to sail completely through empty air. The missed momentum pulled the forty-year-old associate violently forward, completely destroying his center of gravity and leaving his entire upper body exposed.
With his left arm still securely holding Zuri, Roland planted his polished black leather loafers firmly into the carpet. Channeling the immense, deeply masculine power of his core, Roland drove one catastrophic, explosive counterpunch straight across Harrison’s face.
The heavy gold signet ring on Roland’s right hand connected squarely with Harrison’s cheekbone with a sickening, deafening crack that echoed like a gunshot across the quiet backstage area.
The sheer kinetic force of the blow was absolute. It lifted Harrison entirely out of his polished oxfords. His eyes rolled back in his head instantly as all the air detonated from his lungs in a violent spray.
Harrison spun violently backward, completely out of control. His arms flailed uselessly as he was launched across the brightly lit room, hurtling directly toward the heavy, rolling costume trunk positioned near the wall.
He crashed into the massive trunk with the force of a speeding vehicle.
The trunk shot violently across the floor on its wheels, screeching against the carpet before slamming into the wall. The heavy lid burst open upon impact. Dozens of empty garment bags and folded, brightly colored costume fabrics spilled out, exploding across the carpet like a chaotic rainbow.
As Harrison rebounded off the trunk, he crashed through a nearby display of lightweight theatrical masks, sending them scattering across the floor beneath the feet of the terrified guests. Finally, his ruined body crashed directly through two portable prop columns. The tall, wooden columns snapped and collapsed entirely around him, burying him in a heap of broken wood, scattered masks, and vibrant fabric.

Harrison lay utterly incapacitated, his classic black tailcoat tuxedo completely ruined, bleeding heavily onto the floor, his reign of arrogance over in less than three seconds.
There was no dialogue. The overwhelming, brutal reality of the violence silenced every single person in the room. The absolute physical dominance of the veteran Mafia boss had just been violently re-established in the bright, cinematic light.
