Chapter 10

The entire nine-hour punishment was bait.
Not an impulsive act.
Not a family argument that went too far.
A planned provocation.
Digital records reconstructed the sequence.
Three days earlier, Gavin packed Tobin’s room.
Sybil prepared the fake residential transfer using Alessandra’s credentials.
Vanessa photographed the emptied bedroom.
Ethan installed the hidden garage camera.
On the morning of the gala, Gavin deliberately brought Tobin downstairs before Alessandra’s Mafia council session began.
He knew exactly when the meeting was scheduled to end.
Tobin would remain beside the trunk until Alessandra appeared.
The longer he waited, the more shocking the scene would become.
The more shocking the scene, the more likely Alessandra would react violently.
They were counting on it.
Vanessa’s photographs would later show Tobin alone.
The hidden camera would show Alessandra hitting Ethan and Gavin.
The forged relocation document could be presented as evidence that Alessandra herself authorized Tobin’s removal from the residence.
Gavin’s prepared statement would provide the narrative.
An absent Mafia boss.
A neglected child.
A volatile mother.
A frightened husband seeking custody and separation.
Then Vanessa and Lucas could move openly into the household Gavin expected to control after Alessandra was forced out of daily family life.
The affair was real.
Lucas was Gavin’s son.
But the secret child was not the major betrayal.
Gavin had used Tobin as bait to manufacture the evidence he needed against Tobin’s mother.
Alessandra sat perfectly still as her attorney finished reconstructing it.
Her eyes stayed on Gavin’s draft statement.
The room waited for anger.
It did not come.
That frightened everyone more.
Her thumb slowly turned the Ashford signet ring around her finger.
Then she whispered:
“He knew I would hit him.”
Her attorney did not answer.
Alessandra looked toward the frozen footage.
Gavin had not underestimated her temper.
He had understood it perfectly.

And for the first time, Alessandra realized her enemies had not attacked her power.
They had used it against her.
