Chapter 11

Dominic arrived at Claire’s office believing the meeting concerned company damage from Bianca’s lawsuit.

Then he saw the printed messages.

His face changed.

Only once.

That was enough.

Alessandro sat across the conference table.

No bodyguards.

No shouting.

No weapons.

Dominic looked at Claire.

“These are taken out of context.”

Claire almost laughed.

“There are four hundred and twelve messages.”

“I was trying to help Bianca understand Alessandro.”

“You gave her a litigation attorney before the wedding.”

“She asked for one.”

“You requested the camera move.”

“For security.”

“You told her to create a public choice involving Livia.”

Dominic leaned forward.

“I never told her to touch that child.”

Alessandro finally spoke.

“You knew she was targeting Livia.”

“I knew she was frustrated.”

“You fed it.”

Dominic looked at him.

“Because you were changing.”

There it was.

The motive.

Dominic believed Alessandro had become weak after becoming a father.

He hated outside auditors.

He hated the new legitimate board members.

He hated Alessandro refusing to use family influence in business disputes.

He believed the Rizzanos survived because men feared them.

Livia, in his mind, had changed Alessandro from a leader into a father who hesitated.

“I was protecting what your father built.”

Alessandro’s expression did not change.

“My father is dead.”

“That doesn’t mean everything dies with him.”

“No.”

Alessandro looked at the messages.

“But some things should.”

Dominic was suspended immediately from every legitimate Rizzano company pending the independent investigation.

His access to the estate was revoked.

More importantly, Alessandro refused to handle the betrayal privately.

For the first time, Dominic understood what had actually changed.

Alessandro was no longer willing to protect the family from consequences simply because the person responsible carried the same name.
