Chapter 6

The ringing silence in the massive atrium was profound, broken only by the wet, ragged groans coming from Julian amidst the ruined velvet ropes. The bright, vivid colors of the room—the champagne satin, the blush-pink tulle, the rich burgundy silk—framed the total, devastating physical dismantling of the treasonous associate.
Charlotte stared at her brother’s broken body, her fair, rosy face turning a sickly, translucent white. The elegant, untouchable matriarch mask shattered entirely, replaced by a surge of pure, unadulterated, aristocratic panic and blinding fury. She had never witnessed Xavier unleash his physical dominance against her own bloodline.
"Julian!" Charlotte shrieked, her American accent cracking into a hysterical, breathless wail.
Driven by cornered desperation and an irrational belief that she still held some semblance of authority in the house, Charlotte angrily lunged forward. She bypassed her fallen brother entirely, her champagne-colored satin evening gown swishing violently across the floor. She charged directly toward Xavier, reaching her manicured hands out aggressively.
"Give her to me!" Charlotte screamed, attempting to physically grab Maya out of Xavier's protective embrace to use the child as a shield or a bargaining chip.
Xavier moved with terrifying, fluid speed.
Before Charlotte’s hands could even brush the fabric of Maya’s white cropped cardigan, Xavier intercepted her trajectory. He reached out and caught her left wrist in an iron grip.
"Let me go, you animal!" Charlotte hissed, struggling frantically against his immovable strength, her diamond tennis bracelet biting into her own skin.
Xavier did not flinch. He did not raise his voice to match her hysteria. Without a fraction of a second of hesitation, he violently tore her hand away from his daughter's space, pulling her arm downward to break her balance.
With a smooth, devastating transfer of his immense upper-body strength, Xavier delivered one thunderous, catastrophic open-handed slap directly across Charlotte’s face.
The sound of the impact cracked like a whip in the silent hall.
The sheer, masculine force behind the blow was absolute. It lifted the thirty-six-year-old woman completely out of her silver stiletto heels. Charlotte spun violently backward, entirely out of control, her elegant gown twisting awkwardly around her legs.
She hurtled backward across the polished floor, flying directly toward the stack of luxurious leather ottomans positioned near the seating area.
She crashed into the heavy leather furniture with staggering force. The stacked ottomans separated completely beneath her weight, sliding violently apart in different directions. Dozens of decorative plush cushions burst from their arrangements, exploding across the floor in a chaotic avalanche of fabric and feathers.

Charlotte collapsed heavily among the scattered cushions and overturned leather furniture. She gasped desperately for air, her heavy earrings swinging wildly as she clutched her rapidly swelling, dark red cheek.
The banquet went completely silent again. No dialogue was spoken. The elite guests, the hardened capos, and the estate staff stared in absolute, breathless horror as the true power of the syndicate leader was unleashed. Xavier stood over the ruined woman, breathing slowly, the undisputed, terrifying king of his domain.
