Chapter 13

The case against Marco strengthened through ordinary records.
Vehicle telemetry.
Phone access logs.
Warehouse inventory.
Toll data.
Employee statements.
Transaction records from buyers who had unknowingly purchased company property through intermediaries.
No one dramatic witness appeared.
No secret confession solved it.
The pattern did.
Marco had used estate vehicles for unauthorized inventory movements at least eleven times.
He had repeatedly activated service mode.
On the afternoon Ethan and Clara were trapped, his phone opened the vehicle-status page three times while the cabin temperature climbed.
Lucia’s statement established that Marco had promised remote climate control.
Ethan independently remembered Marco showing Lucia his phone before the children entered the SUV.
The pieces supported each other.
Lucia’s own accountability became clearer too.
Her custody attorney preserved emails she sent before the incident.
One said:
If something happens at that estate while Ethan is in Silvano’s care, maybe people will finally listen.
Another:
I need something nobody can explain away.
Lucia had not intended serious injury.
She had absolutely intended to manufacture danger.
Silvano read the emails without showing them to Ethan.
Then his attorney placed another file in front of him.
The report concerning Silvano’s violence in the motor court.
“You could argue immediate defense regarding Marco.”
“And Lucia?”
“Harder.”
Silvano had stopped her from fleeing.
Then slapped her.
The law did not disappear because she had committed something terrible.
Silvano nodded.
“Proceed.”
His attorney studied him.
“You understand what I'm saying?”
“Yes.”
Silvano signed the acknowledgment.
For decades his power had meant other people faced consequences while he decided whether he did.
He was finished teaching Ethan that lesson.
By the end of the month, prosecutors and civil counsel had enough information to proceed through normal channels.
Lucia asked for one final opportunity to speak with Silvano before making her formal decisions.
May you like
He agreed.
But this time, whatever she chose would not remain between brother and sister.
