Chapter 6 - Natalie’s video

There was video.

Not because someone had intentionally filmed the slap.

Natalie had been recording my mother blowing out candles.

Her phone stayed up when Gigi wandered near the ribbon.

The angle was imperfect.

But clear enough.

Gigi reached.

Arthur moved.

His hand struck her cheek.

No falling cake stand.

No collapsing decoration.

No safety emergency.

Then the camera jerked when Natalie gasped.

Audio continued.

“She’s only two years old! What is wrong with you?!”

Victoria:

“That’s enough, Clara. You’re ruining the party.”

Charles:

“Children need boundaries.”

Then my kick happened partly off-frame.

Enough to see Victoria fall backward into Arthur.

And my words:

“Don’t you dare bully my child.”

Then:

“You’re going to apologize for this!”

“No. This time, you’re all going to pay.”

Clean.

Helpful.

Painful.

The same evidence that contradicted my parents also documented me.

That became a theme.

Good evidence does not love you.

It simply remembers.

Natalie gave the original file directly to police.

Did not post it.

I begged her not to.

Gigi did not owe social media her worst birthday party.

Arthur’s attorney later received it through discovery.

My attorney received relevant parts.

No viral revenge.

No millions of strangers voting on our family.

I was grateful for that.
