Chapter 14 - The photographer’s audio

Noah Bennett’s camera had captured more than we knew.

A secondary microphone near the cake table recorded snippets before the incident.

Not clean.

Music.

Water.

Guests.

But forensic audio enhancement in the ordinary sense—filtering noise without inventing content—made several lines understandable.

Vivian:

“Wait until she sits.”

Madeline:

“I don’t want to.”

Vivian:

“You said you would.”

Then later:

“Bracelet means now.”

No cake instruction.

No command to hurt.

Then after the shove:

Guest gasps.

Isla crying.

Me shouting.

Vivian, under her breath:

“Come on.”

What did she mean?

Could be:

Come on, Everett, react.

Could be:

Come on, this is ridiculous.

Context.

Then she approached Noah.

“Did you get that?”

He answered:

“I got everything.”

Vivian:

“Send me the card before Everett sees it.”

There.

That was why Noah removed it.

Vivian later claimed she wanted copies because Madeline was family.

Possible.

Then:

“Noah, this is private.”

He said:

“I’m hired by Everett.”

“Your contract is with the household.”

Actually my name was contracting party.

Then one sentence:

“If that footage gets used against me, you’ll regret making yourself part of this.”

Threat?

Could be aggressive.

No physical threat.

No criminal charge.

It did explain why Noah immediately contacted counsel.

Then Vivian’s lawsuit against Noah never materialized.

Her lawyers recognized the contract and preservation duties.

Good.

No needless subplot.

But the audio strengthened the board’s view.

She expected something.

She wanted footage.

May you like

She wanted control over the card.

And she became frustrated when my reaction did not produce the incident she had prepared to exploit.
