My late wife Emilia appeared in the investigation through paperwork.
Not a ghost.
Not a secret recording.
A governance memo she wrote three years before her death.

Auction custody weaknesses.
She identified four risks.
Too many family members had keys.
Donated items sometimes moved between the mansion, foundation office, and event venues without standardized sign-out.
Executive director could both approve withdrawal and supervise inventory adjustment.
Donor communications were stored inconsistently.
Her recommendation:
Independent inventory custodian.
Two-person withdrawal approvals.
Quarterly reconciliation.
We adopted half.
Not all.
Why?
Cost.
Convenience.
Family resistance.
I had signed the board minutes postponing two recommendations.
Reading that hurt.
Would full adoption have stopped Marcella?
Maybe.
Harder.
Not impossible.
I did not turn my signature into cause of abuse.
But it was governance failure.
Emilia had seen structural weakness.
