Chapter 16 - Marcella’s counterattack

Marcella released information through her civil filings.

Not classified secrets.

Not illegally leaked prosecutor evidence.

Documents showing I had agreed to cooperate with a legacy-compliance review and planned to dissolve several family arrangements.

The press loved it.

MAFIA HEIR TURNS ON OWN FAMILY.

DELuca BOSS DISMANTLING DYNASTY.

Old relatives called me traitor.

One cousin threatened to sue over sale rights.

Another actually filed for an injunction regarding a family holding partnership.

No violence.

Lawyers.

Expensive enough.

Marcella also alleged:

I had used the foundation investigation to remove her because she opposed my restructuring.

That required independent review.

Good.

Our board commissioned outside counsel to determine whether her suspension was properly based on evidence rather than family retaliation.

Result:

Yes.

Inventory discrepancies predated the gala conflict.

Security camera approval predated the gala.

Audit concerns predated the child-abuse discovery.

That chronology mattered.

Marcella’s employment removal had an independent basis.

My personal fury did not need to become corporate authority.

The board terminated her after investigation.

I abstained.

That abstention hurt my ego.

It protected the decision.
