Chapter 11

Bianca took a plea agreement first.

Her attorney did not pretend Gregory’s manipulation erased her conduct.

Video showed her cutting Emma’s dress.

Witnesses saw the shove.

The scissors were in her hand when she raised them again toward Sophia.

Gregory’s messages helped explain how furious and paranoid she had become.

They did not excuse what she did once angry.

Bianca accepted responsibility for assault-related conduct and agreed to protective restrictions preventing contact with Sophia or Emma.

She also entered counseling.

Not as punishment theater.

Because her relationship with Gregory had revealed something ugly about herself.

She had been so invested in status that hearing another woman supposedly considered her “cheap” mattered more than verifying whether any of it was true.

Before entering her plea, Bianca sent one statement through attorneys.

Not to Emma.

Sophia refused to make her daughter responsible for an adult apology.

The message went to Sophia.

Gregory lied to me. I chose what I did with those lies. I know the difference.

Sophia read it once.

Then put it away.

No reply.

Gregory’s case was broader.

Financial misrepresentations.

Altered records.

Improper use of wedding expenses.

Representations to lenders about a partnership that had not been approved.

The evidence did not support every accusation family members wanted to make.

Raffaele insisted prosecutors and civil lawyers stay with what could actually be proven.

No invented conspiracy.

No claim Gregory intended harm to Sophia’s unborn baby.

No claim he told Bianca to use scissors.

Truth was enough.

The partnership never happened.

Hale Event Management entered restructuring.

Some employees lost jobs.

Others were absorbed by competing firms.

Raffaele hated that innocent workers suffered.

He also refused to prop up the company secretly just to make consequences look cleaner.

Sophia established an employee-transition fund through the legitimate hospitality group.

Gregory’s employees could apply.

No loyalty oath.

No silence clause.

No requirement to blame him publicly.

Raffaele looked at the plan.

“You’re paying people because their boss lied to you?”

“No.”

Sophia answered.

“I’m helping people who didn’t.”

He smiled slightly.

“That sounds expensive.”

“You taught me badly.”

May you like

“Apparently.”

For the first time since the wedding, Sophia laughed without immediately touching her stomach afterward.
