Chapter 13

Gregory eventually cooperated.

Not immediately.

His attorneys showed him the altered messages, lender documents, invoices, and financial statements.

The case did not depend on Bianca’s anger alone.

Records told the story.

He admitted misleading Bianca about Sophia.

He admitted altering communications.

He admitted representing the Carbone partnership as more certain than it was.

He admitted allowing wedding vendor payments to relieve unrelated Hale obligations.

He also admitted why he chose Sophia as the villain.

“She was believable.”

Raffaele stared at him.

“What does that mean?”

“She didn’t like me.”

“She questioned your invoices.”

“She questioned everything.”

“That was her job.”

Gregory looked down.

“I knew Bianca already felt intimidated by her.”

“So you used it.”

“Yes.”

“And you thought if the wedding became ugly enough, everyone would believe Sophia made business personal.”

“Yes.”

Raffaele leaned back.

“Did you know Bianca would touch Emma?”

“No.”

“Shove Sophia?”

“No.”

“Raise scissors?”

“No.”

Raffaele believed him.

That did not make Gregory innocent.

He had intentionally created a volatile situation because he believed he could control how far it went.

He could not.

Gregory looked at him.

“I never wanted anybody hurt.”

Raffaele replied:

“You wanted people angry enough to become useful.”

Gregory had no answer.

His cooperation reduced some consequences.

It did not save his company.

It did not save his relationship.

Bianca ended the engagement permanently.

Her lawyer arranged return of the ring.

Gregory refused it.

Bianca sold it as part of her settlement obligations.

No sentimental reunion.

No final embrace.

Two adults had discovered that whatever affection existed between them had been buried under image, secrecy, manipulation, and resentment.

Raffaele’s own use of force at the wedding was reviewed separately.

Video showed Gregory grabbing him first.

Bianca was actively raising scissors toward Sophia when he intervened.

His attorneys handled the legal questions.

Raffaele did not demand immunity because he was defending family.

The outcome recognized context without pretending powerful men received special rules.

That mattered to Sophia.

May you like

She never said so directly.

She did begin inviting him to more prenatal appointments.
