Chapter 22 - Harold’s debt claim

Harold still wanted reimbursement for his $118,000 in documented property contributions.

Meridian reviewed each item.

Some:

Clearly trust expenses he paid.

Roof deductible:

$18,000.

Emergency plumbing:

$12,400.

Property tax installment:

$24,600.

Tree removal:

$8,200.

Others:

Landscaping choices primarily for Harold and Judith.

Outdoor kitchen upgrades.

Furniture.

Decor.

Not clearly reimbursable.

Then his claimed interest.

Denied.

No loan agreement.

No trustee consent.

No basis for compounded “carrying cost.”

Final recognized reimbursement:

$71,800.

Could trust pay?

Yes.

But court offset:

$14,000 condo-repair repayment.

A portion of accounting fees attributable to his undisclosed North Elm conflict:

$18,000.

Net paid to Harold:

$39,800.

He hated it.

But received real reimbursement.

No moral confiscation.

Then MHB investment loss.

His problem.

He had invested in a speculative related-party buyer.

No guarantee.

Then Harold asked:

“If I leave Greyhaven permanently, do I get compensated for the occupancy right?”

Interesting.

Trust terms allowed possible negotiated surrender.

Meridian commissioned actuarial/property valuation.

Could buy out occupancy to end conflict cleanly.

That became the path.
