Chapter 7

The next layer came from schedule changes.

Eric Walsh compared every incident involving Adrian with security rosters.

Each time Adrian was accused of aggression, Grant had personally changed the assignments within twenty-four hours of the event.

The same men were placed near Lily.

The same men were instructed to respond to Adrian.

At the charity garage auction, one security man had been moved from the gate specifically to the children’s activity area.

At the riders’ dinner, the other was reassigned from parking to the private terrace where Lily was eating.

“Why would security need to shadow a three-year-old?” Rebecca asked.

Nobody had an innocent answer.

Then Eric found an email.

Grant to the vendor:

KEEP COLEMAN AND REESE CLOSE TO THE KIDS. IF ADRIAN STEPS IN, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING.

Raffaele read it twice.

Not attack him.

Not provoke him.

Document everything.

That ambiguity mattered.

Grant’s attorney immediately argued the instruction was reasonable because Adrian had previously acted aggressively.

The timeline made that defense circular.

The first “aggressive” incident occurred after Grant had already placed security near Lily.

Still, Rebecca wanted more.

“We know Grant expected Adrian to intervene.”

“We know Vanessa kept putting Lily in situations where he would.”

“We need evidence those things were connected.”

Then Lily provided something small.

Not under questioning.

While playing with dolls.

Her therapist asked what happened when Adrian “got in trouble.”

Lily answered:

“Vanessa says make him mad.”

The therapist stopped there.

She did not interrogate a three-year-old.

She documented the statement and notified Raffaele.

It was not enough by itself.

But it changed the question.

Raffaele was no longer asking whether Vanessa abused Lily and Grant exploited Adrian’s reaction.

He was asking whether Lily’s humiliation had been designed to create Adrian’s reaction in the first place.
