Chapter 8

I confronted myself next.

Because Victoria had not invented hierarchy from nothing.

She learned it by watching Marconi.

Adults at head table.

Staff behind.

Children introduced according to blood.

Old families ranked every room unconsciously.

Victoria merely weaponized a grammar already available.

I changed things.

Not theatrically.

Children could sit wherever parents allowed.

No “family table” versus “staff side” at informal events.

No using service roles to discipline children.

No telling kids they needed to earn a seat.

One capo laughed.

“Soft.”

I looked at him.

“Try telling my son he doesn’t belong.”

May you like

He stopped laughing.

Good.
