Chapter 13

After the confrontation, Sofia stopped participating in private negotiations.

Everything moved through counsel.

The evidence was organized carefully.

Medical records showed rising blood pressure and fetal-growth concerns.

Portal logs documented canceled appointments from Sofia’s account.

Corporate-device logs linked Grant to the portal access.

Clinic notes documented calls from Eleanor.

The concierge physician documented warning Grant that Sofia required proper evaluation.

Patrick documented the garden incident and staff removal.

Two estate employees confirmed Grant took Sofia’s phone and keys that morning.

Dr. Pierce documented Sofia’s earlier bruising and disclosure of controlling behavior.

The family-law case did not require one perfect piece of evidence.

It required a credible pattern.

Grant’s employment consequences became final.

He lost his Bellucci-company positions for misuse of systems and violation of internal policy.

That did not decide the marriage.

It did remove one source of leverage.

Eleanor lost access to the estate.

Not because Lorenzo declared her an enemy.

Because Sofia instructed staff in writing that Eleanor was not permitted near her without express consent.

That distinction mattered.

Sofia was setting the boundary.

Not her father.

At thirty-six weeks, the medical team recommended delivery at thirty-seven because the baby’s growth had slowed further and Sofia’s blood pressure remained unstable.

The plan was medically ordinary.

Induction.

Continuous monitoring.

Escalation only if necessary.

No dramatic emergency unless circumstances changed.

The night before admission, Lorenzo visited Sofia’s room.

A packed hospital bag sat beside the door.

She noticed him looking at it.

“You okay?”

He nodded.

“You?”

“No.”

He smiled faintly.

“At least you’re honest.”

Sofia sat on the edge of the bed.

“Dad.”

“Yeah?”

“If Grant asks about her…”

Lorenzo waited.

“Don’t answer for me.”

He understood.

Even now.

Especially now.

The baby belonged to Sofia’s future decisions, not Lorenzo’s anger.

“I won’t.”

The following morning, Grant’s attorney sent one final proposal.

Grant would accept long-term supervised contact after the birth and waive immediate access requests if Sofia agreed not to pursue certain abuse allegations publicly.

Sofia read it.

May you like

Then placed it facedown.

She would not trade silence for peace.
