Chapter 12

Marina obtained a long-term protective order against Helena.

The estate trespass notice remained permanent unless Marina herself ever requested otherwise.

Helena lost every household, family-office, and company role that carried authority over staff.

Her access credentials were revoked.

Her delegated permissions were eliminated.

The criminal case developed more slowly.

Not every cruel act fit neatly into a criminal statute.

Forcing laundry onto a recovering woman was abusive.

Calling her a servant was degrading.

Neither automatically created a major criminal charge.

The stronger legal evidence involved physical assaults, repeated interference with Marina’s ability to leave the estate, deceptive security instructions, and the documented pattern of restricting her movement.

Prosecutors built the case around conduct they could prove rather than every accusation the Ricci family whispered about.

Damiano did not interfere.

Several relatives expected him to make the case disappear.

Others expected him to make Helena disappear.

He did neither.

When an uncle asked why Damiano would allow outsiders to prosecute his own mother, Damiano answered:

“Because I already tried letting family govern itself.”

He looked toward the estate gates.

“That’s how my wife got locked inside.”

The independent security review changed everything.

No family member could place another adult under movement restrictions through informal authority.

Medical restrictions required documentation from medical professionals and consent where legally required.

Security staff could no longer treat “family order” as equivalent to “Damiano said so.”

Emergency delegation had expiration limits.

Every use was logged.

Every affected person could challenge it through an independent security administrator.

One bodyguard asked Damiano whether all the bureaucracy was necessary.

Damiano looked at him.

“My mother turned two initials into a prison door.”

The guard never asked again.
