Chapter 13

The final exposure was built from ordinary evidence.

Trust-system device logs.

Bank records.

Provider confirmations.

Messages between Grant and Evelyn.

Records from the watch company.

The unsigned postnuptial agreement.

Household staff statements.

Medical documentation.

The jewelry-house witnesses.

No single item solved everything.

Together, they made the pattern difficult to explain away.

Grant’s company board removed him from management pending its own review of undisclosed financing.

Caradonna-affiliated businesses terminated or suspended his roles according to contract and governance procedures.

Massimo did not personally fire him.

That mattered less to Grant than Massimo expected.

The loss of status hurt anyway.

Evelyn agreed through counsel to repay funds traceable to her personal account, subject to final accounting.

She also provided messages that helped distinguish legitimate Noah expenses from false ones.

Her cooperation did not restore Isabella’s trust.

It simply prevented further damage.

Isabella filed for divorce.

The process moved realistically.

Financial disclosures.

Temporary parenting arrangements.

Evaluations.

Attorney meetings.

No instant final judgment.

Supervised contact between Grant and Noah continued.

One visit ended after fifteen minutes because Noah asked to leave.

Another lasted an hour.

Grant followed the rules.

Massimo found that frustrating.

He wanted Grant to remain obviously terrible.

Instead, the man behaved better when oversight existed.

Rachel told him, “That’s part of why oversight exists.”

At home, Isabella began making decisions without asking Massimo’s permission.

Small ones first.

She rented an apartment instead of staying permanently at his townhouse.

Massimo disliked the neighborhood.

He kept that opinion to himself for almost three minutes.

Isabella laughed.

“That’s progress.”

Noah chose his bedroom.

Dinosaurs.

Blue curtains.

A ridiculous lamp shaped like a moon.

Massimo paid for none of it until Isabella asked.

That was progress too.

Then Rachel called.

The forensic team had completed the final trust-loss calculation.

The amount was lower than early estimates because some payments were legitimate and some stolen funds had been repaid.

Still substantial.

Still serious.

Enough evidence now existed for formal recovery and external referrals where required.

Grant had one final opportunity to cooperate before those steps moved forward.

He asked to speak to Isabella alone.

She refused.

Then he asked for Massimo.

May you like

Massimo agreed.

But only with lawyers present.
