Chapter 19 - I FALL IN LOVE AGAIN

I was thirty-four when I dated seriously again.

His name was Samuel Reed.

Federal prosecutor? Bad fit. Let's avoid. He was an architect.

Forty-one.

Divorced.

One teenage daughter.

No family dynasty.

No interest in being absorbed by Marconi mythology.

Our first argument happened after six months.

I walked toward the door.

He moved aside automatically.

That small action nearly made me cry.

Ridiculous.

Then he asked:

“Do you need space or are you leaving?”

“Space.”

“Okay.”

No blocking.

No key taking.

No club.

Basic decency felt revolutionary because trauma lowers the threshold for what becomes symbolic.

I hated that too.

So I did not romanticize him for behaving normally.

We built something slowly.

No engagement for three years.
