The old photograph eventually cracked.

Not the image.

The frame.

Grace had kept it for more than twenty years.

Luke was grown.

I was in it.

She was in it.

Before lies.

Before pregnancy.

Before him.

Grace asked:

“Keep?”

I said:

“Your picture.”

She replaced the frame.

Placed it in the hallway with dozens of other family photographs.

Not central.

Not hidden.

Luke’s graduation.

Our wedding.

Evelyn Hale.

My father.

Clara.

Milena too.
